How to Be Successful in 3 Steps
It’s so obvious, and yet very few people really consider this.
Step 1: Decide in Which Area of Life You Want to Be Successful
Everyone wants to “achieve” something. Some folks want to make money. Some want position or recognition. Some want physical health. Some want success in relationships. Some want to “help the world”. The list goes on. But when it comes down to it, why should anyone care to be successful in these areas? These goals are not an end in themselves. These goals are useful only insomuch as they help a person reach a real end. When in comes down to it, people want peace, tranquility, and joy. If a person seeks any goal less than that, it is advisable to do it only for the sake of creating a springboard, from which peace is more easily grasped.
So really, there is only one goal that the entire universe is drifting towards. The only difference is that this goal should be sought consciously. So for this step, the real choice is choosing to live consciously. Whatever intermediate goal is next in the path must serve your highest conscious goal.
Step 2: Closely Associate with Someone Who Is Successful in That
Why spin your wheels endlessly trying to reinvent what may have already been done? Many people have probably succeeded in what you want to achieve next. Yes, there may be some additional innovation necessary beyond what others have done. But many of the essentials rarely change. Furthermore, it is not simply dry information that you get from a mentor. You also benefit from their personality, their confidence, and their subtle vibration. You see a living example of someone who has accomplished what you wish to accomplish. There is no more denying the possibility of success for yourself. Most people have had the experience of being with people who make them feel that everything is hopeless, and that success is impossible. The reverse happens when by associating with someone, you feel that your goals are sure to be achieved.
Be very careful when assessing people who seem to be successful in an area of life. A person who has material prosperity and understands that it is a means to a higher goal might have something to offer you. A person who has material prosperity and who is not conscious of anything higher may also help you get material prosperity, but not necessarily in a way that will help you use it to achieve real peace and joy.
Step 3: Learn From that Person
Mentors might give you some advice or instructions. Or they may not say anything at all. Many times, simply observing a person can teach someone a lot. Thoroughly absorb what they give you. Do not be in a rush. At the end of each day, recall your goal and ensure that you did something- however small- to take steps in that direction.
